JUPITER
The largest planet in our Solar System
Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system, known for its powerful storms, including the Great Red Spot, a storm larger than Earth that has raged for centuries. As a gas giant, Jupiter is made mostly of hydrogen and helium, with no solid surface. It has a strong magnetic field and dozens of moons orbiting it.
Surface
Though Jupiter doesn’t have a solid surface like Earth or Mars, its atmosphere gradually
transitions into a dense fluid of hydrogen and helium as you go deeper. At its core, Jupiter may
have a solid, rocky interior surrounded by a layer of metallic hydrogen.
The Great Red Spot
Jupiter’s most famous feature is the Great Red Spot, a massive storm that is at least twice
the size of Earth. This storm has been ongoing for over 300 years, with winds that can reach 430
km/h.
